Oke, I’m a bit late, but I was busy moving to Rotterdam! So, without further ado…Some words on my third song of the third High Upon A Wire E.P.: ‘One Way Ahead’.

A few months ago, one of the biggest dutch radiostations asked me to play, and write a song on the radio. I played “Midnight” from my last E.P. “Bedroom Sessions”, and I had one hour to write a songs about the subject: “A Blind Date at the Kindergarden”. It made me write “Hide and Seek” and performed that on the radio aswell.
I didn’t like the lyrics a lot, but I thought the music was awesome. So I wrote some new words to it and this is what came out. “One Way Ahead”.

It’s a songs about a subject I like to write about. It’s about standing up for yourself. Growing up, and making decisions that are important for your life. This song is about hopes and dreams that will fall apart in your life, but don’t be such a worrier. Make up your mind, change your plans, and stop whining.

The video of me performing “Hide and Seek” on national radio:

I later changed that song into the song ‘One Way Ahead’:

Some words on song number 2.

The Villain
I wrote this song almost a year ago, and I had different lyrics for it from the beginning. But I actually never finished those lyrics because of the length of the song.
The song landed on the shelf and I didn’t listen to it for a whole year. But on a normal day like this, I wrote some lyrics I knew I could try to match with that song.

It’s a song about a movie script. I once did a 5 year education in filming and writing and I always was fascinated by the way a script is written. You write something for movie characters and when you have to cast the movie stars they have to play someone you wrote.
You can do anything with them! Actors will do everything as long as it’s good for the movie and their part. I wrote this song about a boy that has to play a part where he has to kill his enemy, who’s his girlfriend in real life. So it’s all fake, but they are in love so he’s happy when she’s dying in his arms and he hopes that no one rewrites the script, so he can hold her in his arms forever.

I’m proud of my new songs. I think it shows improvement in my songwriting and sound. I can’t wait to tell you something about it. This week I will explain each song, one at a time.

Feeling Better
This is the first songs I have ever written as a solo project. I think it was 4 years ago when I recorded this song in Adobe Audition and Fruity Loops. Ok, I must confess I’ve changed and re-recorded it several times, but I never got sick of this song.
When I decided I wanted to use is for my new E.P. I knew I had to rewrite some lyrics and guitar parts, but the base of the song is still standing.
This is a songs about a broken relationship. I’m happy to say it’s not autobiographical, but it contains parts that everyone could’ve been through.

I like the way to songs build up and tells a story from head to toe. I also like the guitar solo, the riffs and the fact this song came such a long way!

It’s FINALLY HERE! You can download my new E.P. “Here We Go Again” from my site RIGHT NOW!
It was a long way, full of writing, re-writing, mixing and mastering. Thanks to Mikey Batbite for his help!

Check out the cover art as well! It is designed by Sanne van de Burgt and I think she did an awesome job. Check her out at www.vandeburgt.yolasite.com

Mikey Batbite behind my music creator. We are mixing the new songs as we speak and we are making progress. It takes a few more days to get the job done!

Hold on guys!

Hi Everyone,

First of all, Happy Holidays. Hope you all have fun at the end of 2010.
Second, I really wished to have the songs done before Christmas, like a present! But the fact is, I’m still perfectionizing some things and I hope that next week, my buddy Mikey Batbite and me, can finally get the job done. It’s going to be a awesome E.P with another 3 songs about love, hate and moviescripts. My friend Sanne is designing the artwork as we speak, and she is also going to design a whole new site for me. Click on the picture, of me playing acoustically on Paul’s Birthday party, below to go to here site.

Have some great days and make sure you keep checking this site to be the first to download my new E.P.

Hi,

Still busy with the finishing touches. 2 songs are ready for the mix. 1 song is still waiting for some better lyrics. But, they are going to be my best. After the last song is done, I will team up with my former bandbuddy Michael Batbite so we can both make the songs sound awesome.

I will make sure you guys have it this month!

Keep in touch.

Since I really wanted to do more of that solo acoustic stuff, I thought it was a great idea to buy a new semi acoustic guitar.
It’s a Taylor 214CE and I absolutely love it!
Tomorrow night I will play a short acoustic set with it.
8 songs with Drunken Dolly.
3 High Upon A Wire songs.
I will make sure someone will take pictures.

Check out this picture below.
Those are the 3 guitars I play on everyday.

Last weekend I played the first show in months. 10 months exactly.
I headlined as a stand-in guitarplayer for the Zatopeks (uk), on the 1st day of the Stardumb Rumble in Rotterdam. I learned 15 songs, we rehearsed for 4 hours and we played a 45 minute set. It was great. Thanks to everyone who made it!

Unfortunately I still didn’t finished writing the next set of 3 High Upon A Wire songs. I will try to concentrate some more and put them online as soon as I can. Just give me a few weeks.

Speak soon,
-Sander

Me, Sam, Will.

Me with my fender.

Funniest gentlemen alive, Pete.

Yeah, I’m playing my first real show in months. You know, shows with amps and loud guitars. But again, it’s not High Upon A Wire stuff.
I’ve been asked to play a show in Rotterdam with the Zatopeks, a band I met on previous shows and tours. It’s next friday on the Stardumb Rumble in Rotterdam, and it’s going to be a lot of fun playing with those guys and sharing the stage with bands such as Kepi Ghoulie! And a few weeks later I’m still going to play that show with Drunken Dolly, so now I have to stop writing and learn haw to play 25 songs on guitar.

With the Zatopeks
friday 15 october
YourSpace, Kruiskade 9, Rotterdam

With Drunken Dolly
Saturday 30 october
Check back again soon for the adres, Rotterdam

Hope to see you there.
